2012's French Moto GP saw Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) surge to a comfortable win at Le Mans, with Valentino Rossi rediscovering some form to finish second ahead of the championship leader Casey Stoner in third. In wet conditions Lorenzo was able to dominate, but the battle betweein Rossi & Stoner was close right in to the final stages. In the end it was Rossi's Ducati that dealt with the conditions better, giving him second place on the podium. The result meant that Lorenzo passed Stoner to lead the Moto GP standings in 2012.
