Circuit des Remparts, Angouleme Tour
19th - 24th September 2013
This year the French town of Angouleme will be celebrating the 74th anniversary of the famous "Circuit des Remparts" race weekend. The weekend will include concourse competitions, an international tourist ralley through the picturesque French countryside, as well as a whole day of vintage and classic car racing around the historic walled circuit in the old town of Angouleme.
If you have a vehicle pre 1976 you can enter any of the following events across the Circuit des Remparts weekend.
Concours d’Elegance
On Friday at 20.45hrs, located in the town park, the Concours d’elegance takes place – a collection of classic cars of all shapes and sizes, with drivers and their companions in themed dress of the era of the car, where the winner wins their weight in Cognac! This event is free to enter and is great fun to participate in.
Car Exhibition
Each year a different car exhibition takes place in the town hall gardens. This event is free to enter, by invitation only.
Rallye International de Charente
For many visitors to the Circuit des Remparts this is the highlight of the weekend. The Rally (non competitive) begins early on Saturday morning in the car park of one of the local Hypermarkets (close to the All Seasons Hotel) and takes you through the Charente & Cognac countryside and concludes with a superb lunch – it is great fun and can be highly recommended.
Historic Racing
Sunday sees focus shift to the famous Circuit des Remparts, the old street circuit around the walled town of Angouleme. Practice around the circuit begins at 8am, and after a break for lunch the competitions start from 2pm. Each year racing includes a variety of classes and vehicles including historic F1 & GT sports cars.
Everyone booking a travel package through Travel Destinations will automatically be sent entry forms for each event. If you would like to take part in any of the events please complete the forms and return them to the organisers in France before July 6th or as soon as possible thereafter. The best way to pay for these is by international bank transfer which your bank can help you with otherwise you will need to send a Euro cheque.
