MG España 2010

20th – 29th June

Back by popular demand: MG España. The ‘Costa Verde’ and ‘Picos de Europa’ are steeped in history and are well known for their stunning scenery and landscape which will allow you to experience the real joys of MG motoring.  Treat yourself to 4 and 5 star hotels in some of the most charming parts of this area and indulge in the local cuisine and famous Rioja Alto wine.

Sunday 20th June
Depart Plymouth at 16.30hrs on the Brittany Ferries ship Pont L’Aven. A group dinner has been arranged on board for the evening.

Monday 21st June
Arrive at Santander at 13.00hrs (local time) and drive along the coast to the attractive coastal town of Ribadesella on the Asturian Coast, which is a leisurely three hour drive from Santander.  Accommodation for 3 nights is at a 4 star hotel located on the beach.

Tuesday 22nd June
Why not take the coastal route back to some of the stunning villages you missed en route, such as Santillana del Mar, Comillas and San Vicente de la Barquera.

Wednesday 23rd June
Spend a leisurely day in this seaside location to explore the local caves and surrounding area, or just relax on the beach and adjust to the Spanish climate and way of life. Alternatively drive further along the coast to the fishing port of Gijon, or head inland to the bustling beautiful city of Oviedo.

Thursday 24th June
After departing Ribadesella we head for the picturesque drive through the Picos de Europas, whose peaks rise to a height of 3000 metres. Our stay for the night is at the Parador in Fuente De. This modern Parador is located in the Liebana valley next to the lower cable car station, which goes up to the Aliva viewpoint. The classical mountain style of the Parador Fuente De, with its warm wood and leather furniture, together with the home made dishes of the traditional cooking of Cantabria, make this Parador a unique experience.

Friday 25th June
After breakfast make your way through the beautiful mountain roads and onto the plains to Burgos where we will be staying for two nights at our 4 star hotel located below the castle. Enjoy a couple of days in this vibrant city celebrating the festival of San Pedro.

Saturday 26th June
After breakfast there will be a guided tour of the city after which you can enjoy the rest of the day and the spectacle of the festivities.

Sunday 27th June
Depart Burgos for a short but scenic drive to Santo Domingo, a graceful town near the river Ebro. Santo Domingo borders the vineyards and bodegas of the famous Rioja wine region. Our accommodation in Santo Domingo will be another Parador Hotel and a final farewell group dinner.
