Circuit des Remparts; Angouleme Tour

Camping Marco de Bignac

wonderful opportunity to join the annual historic motoring
extravaganza, that is the “Circuit des Remparts”, in the French town of
Angouleme. Witness the Concours d’Elegance on Friday evening where the
victor wins their own weight in cognac; join in the sightseeing and
gastronomic road run on Saturday, and then take your roadside seat for
the street circuit races all day Sunday. The whole town goes car mad
and you can be part of it!
Thursday 16th September
Check
in at Brittany Ferries terminal in Portsmouth at 22.00hrs for the
23.30hrs crossing to Caen. 2 berth berth inside cabins
with shower & WC have been reserved for this overnight crossing.
Friday 17th September
Arrive Caen at 06.30rs. Drive to Angouleme in southwest France, which is
around a 5 hour drive. Check-in at the campsite Marco du Bignac which
is just a short distance from Angouleme.
 The grounds of Camping Marco de Bignac extend to over 20 acres, embracing a spectacular lake . Mature trees fringe the lake, home to some impressive fish, including carp. In the camping area the trees are arranged formally to delineate the 89 pitches that Camping Marco has to offer. The Marco De Bignac is a three-star rated camp-site, which includes a popular bar and restaurant.
Total distance from Caen is approximately 300
miles. Driving time around 5 hours.
At 20.45hrs, located in the
town gardens, the Concours d’elegance takes place – a collection of
classic cars of all shapes and sizes, with drivers and their companions
in themed dress, where the winner wins their weight in Cognac!
Saturday 18th September
A variety of events take place throughout the day;
•
A road run starting at the ‘Geant’ supermarket close to the hotel in
North Angouleme takes place. More than 150 cars drive through the roads
of the Charente region, with the run finishing at the Place Victor Hugo
in the town centre.
• A cavalcade of Sunday’s racecars - leaving from the Hotel De Ville at around 10.00hrs towards the ‘Geant’ Supermarket.
• From 14.00hrs in the square by the market Halls a presentation of Sunday’s race cars and drivers.
• Concours d’Etat – starting at 16.00hrs in the gardens of the Hotel de Ville.
Sunday 19th September
Circuit des Remparts – racing on the historic circuit all day from 08.00hrs to  18.00hrs.
Race categories include Bugatti Grand Prix cars, Frazer Nash, MGs,
Vintage sport and racing cars, GTs, GTSs, and GTOs. Those who wish to
spectate can buy access to the track, grandstands and wander through
the pits and paddock.
Monday 20th September
Depart
Angouleme for Caen ready to check in at 21.30hrs for the Brittany
Ferries 23.00hrs crossing to Portsmouth. A 2 berth inside cabin has been reserved for this overnight crossing.
Total distance: 300 miles
driving time around 5 hours.
Tuesday 21st September
Arrive at Portsmouth at 06.30hrs.

• Longer stays are available at a small supplement.
What’s included:

Brittany Ferries crossings from Portsmouth to Caen including 2/4-berth
inside cabins in each direction. Upgraded cabins are available on
request.
• 3 nights camping at the campsite Marco de Bignac near Angouleme.
• Windscreen stickers, routes and general information.
What’s not included:
• Vehicle recovery and personal insurance.
• Tickets to the race (approx €30). Please note these are not available in advance.
• Entry to the Circuit des Remparts events.
