JEC Ireland 2010 County Galway
For our JEC Ireland tour this year we are heading West and making our base in the town of Galway, for what we hope will be a few interesting days exploring the Connemara National Park, plus the coastline around Galway Bay and the Burren. Our 4 star hotel will provide the ideal base as we explore the region providing beautiful scenery with historic monuments in equal measure.
Itinerary:
Sunday 23rd May: Depart Holyead for Dun Laoghaire on the Stena Line high speed service at 10.25hrs. From Dun Laoghaire, drive West Athlone & Athenry to Galway. An evening welcome barbecue has been organised at the hotel.
Monday 24th May: A circular road run has been arranged taking you out along the coast around Galway Bay, where there are views across to the Aran Islands. The route continues to the famous Cliffs of Moher and returns via Ennistymon through the Limestone scenery of the Burren National Park. Tuesday 25th May: A further circular road run has been organised taking you to the West coast and around the beautiful Connemara National Park. There will be opportunities to visit Gaelic speaking areas and stop at some untouched beaches before heading in to the National Park from Clifden to visit the picturesque Kylemore Abbey.
Wednesday 26th May: A day to explore the bustling and historic town of Galway itself. This can be done on foot, by bus or by car. A tour dinner with musical entertainment & dancing has been organised for the evening at our hotel.
Thursday 27th May: A day to relax and enjoy the scenery after the night before. Some may wish to make use of the facilities at the hotel, including the large swimming pool, others may wish to explore the inlets of Lough Corrib, or the beaches of Galway Bay.
